MARLEY BROTHERS SIGN ALTON ELLIS' SON CHRISTOPER TO LABEL
[YardFlex, 11/29/2010]
Five-time Grammy Award winning producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Stephen Marley along-side his brothers Damian Marley and Julian Marley are proud to announce the signing of reggae music singing sensation Christopher Ellis to the growing roster of musical talent featured on the Marley brothers record label imprint, Ghetto Youths International, Inc. Christopher Lamour Ellis was born the youngest male progeny to “The Godfather of Jamaican Rocksteady”, the late Alton Ellis. Talented in his own right, the soulful 28 year-old roots reggae, r&b crooner has been astounding audiences with his incredibly natural, smooth vocal stylings since the age of 11. To date, Stephen Marley has executive produced and recorded two singles for Ellis, including the ‘End of Time’ and a rendition of Alton Ellis’ song entitled, ‘Willow Tree’, a sweetly seductive lover’s ballad that showcases Christopher Ellis’ versatile musicality. ‘End of Time’ has an anticipated release, while a ballad version and a reggae version of Ellis’ ‘Willow Tree’ is available now on iTunes.

AMY WINEHOUSE'S LABEL TURNS IN HUGE PROFIT
[Aceshowbiz, 11/29/2010]
A record label set up by Amy Winehouse has proved a success.  The "Back to Black" star set up Lioness Records in 2009 and used the Island imprint to launch the singing career of her goddaughter, 14-year-old Dionne Bromfield. The youngster released her debut album, "Introducing Dionne Bromfield", last year and the move appears to have paid off for Winehouse. Her company made an impressive first year profit of $66,000, according to Britain's The Sun. Winehouse herself is signed to Island Records and is due to release her third album. The singer herself stated that she plans to drop it before January 2011. "It's going to be very much the same as my second album, where there's a lot of jukebox stuff," she said back in July this year.

BOXER MANNY PACQUIAO FACES LAWSUIT OVER ALBUM DEAL
[Aceshowbiz, 11/22/2010]
Boxer Manny Pacquiao is facing a $10 million lawsuit over allegations he signed a recording contract but failed to deliver any songs. The Filipino sportsman is said to have agreed a deal with bosses at RBM Group International in 2009 to record 12 tracks. Executives at the music company alleged they handed the star a $40,000 payment for the first two songs, but Pacquiao has yet to produce any recordings. RBM bosses filed suit at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, November 17 claiming the boxer broke his promise and left them $200,000 out of pocket. The papers also allege the company has lost out on profits of $10 million, according to TMZ.com. Pacquiao, who is the first boxer to ever win eight world titles in eight different weight classes, has not responded to the lawsuit.

FEARLESS RECORDS "PUNK GOES POP" COMPILATION RETURNS
[Aversion, 12/6/08]
After thoroughly exhausting every idea, good and bad, the Punk Goes series is coming back around to pop. Fearless Records announced the next installment in its rapidly declining signature compilation series will be Punk Goes Pop 2, which arrives in stores Feb. 17, 2009. A finalized track listing for the album has yet to be revealed, though bands such as The All American Rejects, Rise Against, Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T's, Jack's Mannquin, Relient K, Thrice, Mayday Parade and All Time Low are confirmed for the album. The last installment in the series was this year's Punk Goes Crunk, so Fearless can really only go up from here.
