Levy told Yardflex recently of his linking with ‘Busta’ and ‘Kardi’ and the energetic artist, known for constantly working hard, said it was a natural creative attraction. He said, “I was at a show in New Jersey, when Foxy Brown called up Busta to come to the club. After the show he asked me to sing a song and then right away he said let’s go to studio…” The historical remainder of the tale is the hard hitting conclusion – that is, “No War.” Previous collaborations by the avid musically driven entrepreneur, who stands firm by his words in what became almost a ‘motto’ for the world, “Every Posse Must Work,” have been with rappers like: Snoop Dogg, Bounty Killer and Lil Wayne. Mr. “Broader Than Broadway” has a catalogue loaded with hits and whenever he performs fans bask in the sheer pleasure. WHITE ZOMBIE "LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE" 4 CD/1 DVD COLLECTION [Reuters/Billboard, 11/22/08]
Assembling the White Zombie boxed set "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" was "weird" and somewhat bittersweet for band founder Rob Zombie. "It felt like I was putting together a box set of someone else's band. It just seemed like forever ago, and some of the early songs are, like, 20 years ago or something," he told Billboard. The four-CD, one-DVD collection includes 63 tracks and a wealth of rare video footage and other memorabilia Zombie has held onto. The process "brought up a lot of things I'd forgotten about -- unfortunately, some of it was negative," he said. In particular he was reminded of the waning days of the heavy metal band, when group members would tour in separate vehicles and not see each other except at shows. None of the other members were involved in putting together the compilation. "The main reason White Zombie ended was the people who were White Zombie didn't get along anymore," Zombie said, adding that he finished the group's final show in 1996, walked offstage, into a car, went to the airport and "didn't look back." Nevertheless, he hopes "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" -- pointedly titled, he acknowledged, for those who might wonder about a White Zombie reunion -- will feed the appetites of younger generations of fans. "I can see it, strangely enough, in the royalty checks. Every year the band makes more money," Zombie said. "Hot Topic is doing a new line of White Zombie merch. It's just one of those things that happens, I think. There's always a new wave of kids that gets super-jazzed on a band that's not around anymore."

We thought the third record was too long, and we didn't want to make that mistake again. But these songs were too good just to be B-sides on singles. BROADWAY'S "MADAME DEFARGE", NATALIE TORO TO RELEASE SOLO ALBUM [Playbill, 11/8/08]
The 12-track disc, available Nov. 23 on natalietoro.com and cdbaby.com, will include the work of a handful of New York's hottest arrangers. Toro calls the new recording "a Broadway CD with a twist." "Sometimes when I listen to solo discs there is a sameness to the sound because only one arranger is used," Toro told Playbill. She said the album will have a handcrafted feel because she collaborated with seven different arrangers. "I was able to sit with each arranger and talk about my ideas," Toro said. Don't expect standard-issue versions of Broadway classics. "Something's Coming" from West Side Story, for example, has an Andrews Sisters vibe to it, as arranged by David Loud (with Toro tripling her voice); and arranger Chino Nuρez brings a contemporary New York City street soundscape to Stephen Sondheim's "Another Hundred People" (expect car horns, crowds and more). Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Shrek) duets with Toro on a bonus track that re-creates the Barbra Streisand/Judy Garland duet of "Happy Days Are Here Again"/"Get Happy." Matt Perri did the arrangement. For fans of A Tale of Two Cities, Toro recorded Ed Kessel's arrangement of "Out of Sight, Out of Mind," her big number from the romantic historical musical (with songs by Jill Santoriello), which closes on Broadway Nov. 16. A release party for the disc will be held 7:30 PM Nov. 23, 2008 at Canal Room at Canal and West Broadway in the East Village. Toro will sing a selection of songs from the CD (titled "Natalie Toro"), and sign discs. There is no cover charge, and the first 50 guests receive a free drink. Toro has appeared in Broadway's Les Misιrables and Madison Square Garden's A Christmas Carol musical. Other credits include Zombie Prom (Off-Broadway), the national tours of Evita (20th anniversary tour, Jeff Award nomination), Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and regional productions of The Fix, Everything's Ducky, Francis of Guernica, Blood Brothers and Zorba.

"The video basically pits one neighbor against another terrible neighbor, who lives on a completely opposite schedule. He's not on the grid - he's not on, like the song says, 'a 9-to-5 pace.' And this guy's living the cookie-cutter life, with his white picket fence, and his wife who brings him lemonade when he's washing the car," frontman Tyson Ritter told MTV about the music video's concept. "So it's kind of like the clash of those worlds; only at the end, there's kind of a twist, where the two worlds kind of flip-flop. Yeah."  "Gives You Hell" is one of the new songs on the band's upcoming third major studio album, "When the World Comes Down". Set for U.S. release on December 16, the album will follow up their 2005 massive hit of "Move Along". "After the success of 'Move Along', we felt an innate need to challenge ourselves to grow. And to challenge our fans to grow with us. ... This LP is where we're at as people, not just artists, here and now. That's why we took the bus trips and locked ourselves away in remote cabins to recreate this sense of torture like we had in the past, before we sold any records," lead guitarist Nick Wheeler said.

Slated for release on November 11, 2008 in the United States via Big Machine Records, the effort also contains a new song titled "Breathe" where Swift teams up with Colbie Caillat. "When I go into the studio, it's really more about portraying the song in a way that gets the feeling across, rather than every phrase being exactly perfect. . . . I think it's the writer in me that's a little more obsessed with the meaning of the song than the vocal technique," Swift commented on her recording sessions for the album. "All that stuff is like math to me. Over-thinking vocals and stuff - I never want to get to that point."

For some reasons, he is beaten mercilessly by the other gang members and wanders aimlessly with a swollen face and ragged clothes. The video then ends with T.I. exiting the mafia group saying, "I get myself in, I get myself out." "Live Your Life" is the second single off T.I.'s sixth major studio album "Paper Trail". Released on September 30 in the U.S., the record lines up Ludacris, Usher, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, John Legend, and Justin Timberlake as guest stars.

When you work that far in advance, it's impossible to know what people will call albums. British pop duo Erasure had an album "Circus". The name is not copyrighted. I doubt there will be confusion. Fans will either ask for the new record by "Take That" or Britney Spears."

GLASVEGAS RUSH TO FINISH XMAS LP [BBC, 10/29/08]
Glasvegas have admitted it was "a mad rush" to complete recording sessions for their forthcoming Christmas album. The Scottish four-piece said their last session in the studio lasted 29 hours straight as they scrambled to finish the record A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss). Singer James Allan said: "One of the guys working on the record was that he was so tired he started hallucinating. "He saw somebody in a checkered shirt waving at him in the studio."  The frontman added: "That gives you an example of how intense it was. We were in a mad rush to get it finished." The album was recorded in Transylvania at St Nicholas Church in Brasov, with two tracks featuring the local Concentus Choir. "It was amazing recording in that church," James enthused. During the recording sessions the band joined forces with the choir for a special version of Silent Night, which was performed in English and Romanian. With titles like Cruel Moon and Careful What You Wish For, the release would suggest a leaning towards the bleaker side of Christmas. "I guess everybody's Christmas is not like Cliff Richard's," he said. "I was never meaning for it to be dark or happy. I think when people meet up with their families, then their happiness is blown up. "But I think people's loneliness is blown out of proportion as well when they've not got that because Christmas is in their face and everybody else is happy. "I guess there's little bits of that and those moods and stuff that's in there." They will be headlining the opening night of the Mencap Little Noise Sessions next month and bringing in the New Year at the Hogmany Street Party, in Edinburgh on 31 December 2008. "I'm looking forward to playing both those shows. It will be good to play especially the Hogmany gig," James added. "The only downfall is I love my mum's steak pie on New Year's Eve and I'll be missing that." A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss) will be released as a download and in a special two-disc limited edition of their self-titled debut album on 1 December, 2008.

SONY PLATINUM MUSICPASS / LAST SHADOW PUPPETS / LUCKSMITHS MUSIC [Aversion, 10/29/08]

Sony teamed with grocer Winn-Dixie, Target, Office Depot and others to peddle gift cards preloaded with an album download under the brand Platinum MusicPass. Shoppers purchase the credit-card sized download vouchers while they're in the store, take them home, scratch off an access code, and download at home . . . . .The Last Shadow Puppets have a little something-something for their American fans. The band, which features Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and Rascal Miles Kane, drops an eight-track EP onto American shores. PUNK ROCK KARAOKE BECOMES A DVD [Aversion, 10/29/08]
Apparently forgetting the two most important aspects of karaoke are its live aspect and amateurish wannabe singers, the folks behind Punk Rock Karaoke are releasing a DVD that strips the So-Cal phenomenon of that. The original "Punk Rock Karaoke" gave fans the opportunity to get on stage with a real-live punk cover band (that featured members of Bad Religion, NOFX, The Adolescents and Social Distortion, no less!) and play front man with their favorite classic punk song. The DVD version, of course, strips all that: The live band performs its covers with a rotating cast of real-life punk singers. There's no thrill of the taste of the spotlight. There's no shameful glee at watching your friends suck in front of a full house. There are karaoke-style captions to help newbies sing along though. The DVD hits stores Oct. 28, 2008 from MVD.

PARIS HILTON "JAILHOUSE BABY" AUDIO [Aceshowbiz, 10/29/08]
Another new material, expected to appear on Paris Hilton's sophomore studio album, has come out. Entitled "Jailhouse Baby", the up-beat song chronicles the story of her DUI-related probation violation in June 2007. In the work of her not-yet-titled effort, Hilton will adopt "European dance vibe" similar to Kylie Minogue's sound. "I was really inspired by Kylie Minogue. I love her, I just love that European dance vibe. The last album was completely hip-hop and this is completely different," she said during an interview. Previously, Hilton has released a music video to promote her song "Paris for President". Featuring her dog, Tinkerbell, as a cameo, the music video showed her as a 'commander' in bikini surrounded by hunky secret service men, played by actors Bryan McMullin, Matt Hall, and William Chan.

DIDO "SAFE TRIP HOME" ALBUM [Klassic Magazine, 10/28/08]
It is five years since Dido's last album, the hugely successful Life for Rent, which was one of the biggest selling albums of 2003. The CD was the follow up to the singer's debut album, No Angel, which sold 12 million copies. There is little wonder that her latest studio album, Safe Trip Home, is hugely anticipated. The CD will drop in stores November 17, 2008. "I've had a lot of fun making it and I'm now just happy people are going to hear it," says Dido, 36. The first single from the album, Don't Believe in Love, is already the subject of much online debate about its meaning. The song appears to be about a heartless woman's desire for her man to get up and go home before she awakes after a night of passion. Dido became a star after Eminem sampled her song Thank You on his hit Stan in 2000.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: PINK [Aceshowbiz, 10/28/08]
In 2008, Pink returns to the music scene with her fifth major studio album "Funhouse". The effort lines up Al Clay, Billy Mann, Butch Walker, Danja, Greg Wells, and Max Martin as her team on the production table. The first single off the record is entitled "So What" and shares the story of the singer's separation from motocross racer, Carey Hart, whom she married in early 2006. "I think it's really ironic that it's this kind of subject matter, and it's my first No. 1," Pink says. Since released on August 15, "So What" has reached number one on numerous charts in several countries, including Australia, Canada, German, and Ireland as well as U.K. and U.S. Beside helping her scooping the charts' reigns, "So What" also helps her working out a healthy friendship with her ex-husband. "It's helped both of us, because we had to figure out how we could have a really, really healthy friendship. The fact we can still laugh together and piss each other off, roll our eyes at each other, throw our hands up in the air and at the end of the day it's good - we're solid," she explains in a further statement. Pink's music sounds on "Funhouse", due for release in North America on October 28, 2008, range from a slow-jammed tune "I Don't Believe You", radio-friendly pop sounds sampled on "Please Don't Leave Me" to a softer song shown on "Crystal Ball". Saying that the album's tone resulted from some of the turmoil she has felt personally, she states, "Creating songs is my favorite part, but I've had consistent agony and joy in all of the records. I'm always defensive and a survival-oriented person. I think when I'm writing songs it's my chance to be vulnerable." As a promotional project for the soon-to-be released record, Pink plans to hold a few one-off performances in various cities. A proper world tour will also be kicked off in Europe next February. In the meantime, music lovers can enjoy the album and the video for "So What", which features her driving a lawnmower down Sunset Boulevard. She explains, "It was so much fun, bittersweet, but really fun. I definitely bring crazy to the table. How can you not, riding a lawnmower down Sunset Boulevard when people are flicking you off? I know how to spend my Monday morning."

PINHEAD CIRCUS / NADA SURF / LONG BLONDES / FRIGHTENED RABBIT / SUPERSUCKERS ALBUMS [Aversion, 10/28/08]
Playing hard-edged punk in the '90s was always a tough proposition. So was hailing from one of Denver's more distant suburbs, Golden, but Pinhead Circus made both work. The act's searing punk cut through an era dominated by the likes of Green Day and The Offspring with a buzzing guitar assault and manic tempos. "Carefree Metal Daze" is from the band's 1997 debut, Detailed Instructions for the Self-Involved (BYO). . . .It's only about the music, well, and maybe, fetishing limited-edition vinyl releases a bit too. Nada Surf will drop a five-disc boxed set that puts its entire catalog on vinyl Nov. 25, 2008. The set, which is released through Barsuk Records, is limited to 1,000 copies, and also contains a repressing of the band's original 7-inch debut. . . .Citing ongoing health issues, The Long Blondes are calling it a day.  The band's been on the down-low since guitarist Dorian Cox was admitted to the hospital in June. While the act originally kept his affliction private, he now revealed he suffered a stroke, and its ongoing effects upon him. ""Unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again," Cox said in a MySpace blog. The band released a pair of albums, most recently this year's Couples (review) (Rough Trade). However, Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson isn't going to let her band's demise take her out of the music biz. Jackson already began working on solo material, according to NME. Jackson hasn't revealed any detailed plans about her post-Blondes career. . . .Frightened Rabbit's 2007 Christmas single is seeing new life this year. The band's "It's Christmas So We'll Stop" is set to arrive in British stores Dec. 15, 2008 from FatCat Records. The track was released last year in a stripped-down version, but, thanks to the behind-the-scenes work of David Karsten Daniels, will feature brass, strings, piano and a full choir on the '08 vintage. Frightened Rabbit's latest studio full-length is this year's The Midnight Organ Fight (review) (FatCat). . . .The Supersuckers are celebrating their 20th year as a band by doing the usual: rocking out. Singer/guitarist Eddie Spaghetti and company are back Nov. 25 with Get It Together. The album, which is released on the band's own label, Mid-Fi Recordings, is their 11th studio effort and coincides with the bar-rock act's plans to mark its 20-year anniversary Nov. 29, 2008 with a big, loud party at Seattle's Showbox.

I heard the album, heard the music, and I feel he's ready," Gucci Mane comments on Plies' next installment. Aside from his activity of gearing up "Da Realist", Plies has also worked with DJ Khaled on the Terror Squad's artist's first single "Out Here Grindin". Also, in another project, Plies has entered the recording room to provide backing vocals for Maino's "Hi Hater" off the Brooklyn rapper's debut album "If Tomorrow Comes".

BRITNEY SPEARS NEW SINGLE HITS TOP OF POP CHARTS [Reuters, 10/16/08]
Britney Spears' new single "Womanizer" made a record-breaking leap to top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart on Wednesday, October 15, underscoring her musical comeback after making headlines with her personal woes. Billboard said the song, the first from a new Spears album due for release in December, jumped from No.96 to No.1 in the past week and returned Spears to the top of the list for the first time since her 1999 debut single "Baby One More Time." "Womanizer" is also No. 1 on iTunes charts in Canada, France, Spain and Sweden, Spears' record company Jive said. Billboard said the unprecedented leap of "Womanizer" was spurred by first-week download sales of 286,000, the biggest opening week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003. The charts were released as expectations rose that Spears would start a tour in early 2009 -- her first since 2004 -- to support the new album "Circus" to be released on December 2, 2008. Spears, 26, looking recently more like her old pop princess self, told a New York radio station last month that she planned to tour around the world next year but gave no details. Jive declined to comment on a Billboard story about a tour next spring. Last year, Spears performed a handful of club shows in southern California but did not go on the road to promote her last album "Blackout," which had a good chart debut in November 2007 but faded quickly. Spears has been on the mend this year after making headlines for shaving her head, attacking paparazzi with an umbrella, losing custody of her two sons and two admissions to psychiatric hospital units. Her father took control of her business affairs in February and, in September, Spears won three awards for her 2007 song "Piece of Me" at the MTV video music awards. She plans to set the record straight about her highly public meltdown in a 90-minute documentary to be aired on MTV on November 30. Before her life spiraled out of control, Spears was one of the best-selling international artists of the last decade with sales of more than 62 million albums.

FRANZ FERDINAND USE "HUMAN BONE SOUNDS" ON NEW ALBUM [Aceshowbiz, 10/14/08]
Franz Ferdinand are "clapping bones together" to create sounds for their upcoming third major studio album. "I remember we were working on a song called 'Kiss Me' and we wanted to have a real dry, percussive sound in the chorus," frontman Alex Kapranos says. "We had this skeleton in a box that just ended up sitting in the corner of the studio ... and decided to experiment with it." Each band's member chooses a different part of the body to play on the record. "Nick, our guitarist, had the hands and was clapping the bones together. Paul, the drummer, was working with the pelvis bone and a femur. We put the teeth in a glass jar and rattled that about," Alex explains further. "We smacked the ribs together and we got this really weird, f***ed-up kind of a sound that was wicked. I can't think of any records with human bones on it." Reportedly inspired by the "heavy dub sound of Jamaican reggae stars," the band's upcoming album is called "Tonight" and expected to be dropped sometime in January 2009. "Right from the beginning, we set out to make a record that had joy in it. Even if you're singing about the darkest of subjects or tragedy, there has to be joy in the performance. There has to be that energy," Alex speaks of the forthcoming effort.

A music video to promote T.I.'s new song "Live Your Life" has been premiered. Directed by Anthony Mandler, the video starts with a capture of Rihanna, who is also featured on the tune, donning a black short tight skirt and leather jacket behind the wheel of her luxurious car preparing to leave. Released on September 10, 2008, his latest record climbed at number one on Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart with total first-week sales in excess of 568,000 copies. "Nobody has ever given me a win and nobody has ever said, 'T.I., you know he's going to do this thing.' They always (say), 'He's not going to do this much, he's not going to do that good, I don't believe he'll do that well," the 28-year-old speaks of his number-one claim. "So its always been an uphill battle for me no matter how big I get I'm always the underdog."

KENNY CHESNEY "LUCKY OLD SUN" ALBUM [E! Online, 10/14/08]
Reigning Nashville king Kenny Chesney has a new album out. And reporters have a new opportunity to press the superstar on his blink-and-you-missed-it marriage to Renιe Zellweger. Happy coincidence, then, that the crooner seems all too willing to share that his 2005 split from the Oscar winner was a major inspiration behind his new opus, Lucky Old Sun. "It's no secret—there are about four or five songs that are about Renιe," Chesney tells USA Today, adding that he began penning the two-years-coming disc just weeks after his annulment. "It's a pretty emotional record for me, a very honest record. There are some songs on this record that needed to be written." Whether Zellweger agrees with his creative assessment remains to be seen. "I have no idea," he professes to Newsweek when asked how his famous ex may react to the tunes. "I don't know. It's unpredictable...I don't want to say this whole record is about her." It was, however, motivated by her, or at the very least, the loss of her in his life. "In 2006, I was probably as emotionally and mentally exhausted as I'd ever been. And that was due to a lot of things—having the foot on the gas pedal constantly, and my breakup with Renιe Zellweger. "It's the truth. It's my life. I've been in a lot of states of mind in the last three years...I've let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy. Chesney goes on to say that while he speaks to Zellweger "every now and then," the breakup itself "was horrible" and not easily overcome. "It took a while. Years. It's been since 2005," he confesses in the magazine. Still, he's quick to note that he's far from hung up on the relationship and, while he once was, is no longer heartbroken over its demise. "Not at all. I already wrote those songs. I'm on to something else." The two-disc deluxe version of the album is set for release tomorrow, October 14. The single-disc version drops Oct. 21, 2008.

A brand new song from Grammy Awards winning singer Justin Timberlake has been leaked out. Called "Steppin' Out Tonight", the new up-tempo jam will reportedly appear in his upcoming album, which hasn't been titled yet. In related news, alongside girlfriend Jessica Biel, the "SexyBack" hit maker showed his support for Barack Obama by attending "Last Chance for Change" rally held at Las Vegas' Clark County Amphitheater on Saturday, October 11. "This is not my usual stage ... and I'm a little nervous. This is the first time in my life that I am endorsing a political candidate," the pop/R&B singer told the crowd of the event. "I'm not here as a musician or an actor or that guy that writes songs. I'm not here as a Democrat or a Republican. I'm here as an American." Three days before the Las Vegas' show, Justin kicked off his own celebrity-studded golf tournament to raise funds for Shriners Childrens Hospital.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: KEVIN RUDOLF [Aceshowbiz, 10/13/08]
Kevin Rudolf got his start in the music industry after meeting top-notched producer Timbaland in 2004. He then helped working on numerous Timbaland-produced hits, including Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right", Timbaland's "Release", and Black Eyed Peas' "My Style". In early 2007, Rudolf decided to release his own project after getting a "real vision of what I could contribute as a producer, musician, and songwriter and tapping into my own voice." While working on his debut album, Rudolf met Cash Money Records' Slim Williams and after playing some of his songs for him, he was signed by the executive. Called "In the City", Rudolf's upcoming debut album is produced entirely by himself except for an unnamed track worked on by The Neptunes' Chad Hugo. One of the tracks on the album is Lil Wayne-featuring jam titled "Let It Rock". Since released in July, the tune has climbed to number 5 on Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and has reached number 14 on Billboard Pop 100 Singles chart. In support of his debut album, Rudolf plans to hit the road before the end of 2008. "I've been hearing some crazy stuff, like 'Let It Rock' is Ryan Seacrest and Lindsay Lohan's favorite song right now. I have been very blessed and feel really lucky," the Cash Money's singer explains. "There is no info or pictures of me anywhere, yet the track has taken a life of its own. The music is truly speaking for itself."

LEON JACKSON "DON'T CALL THIS LOVE" AUDIO [Klassic Magazine, 10/13/08]
X Factor winner Leon Jackson, has returned almost a year after his unexpected triumph to launch his new single Don't Call This Love. The single will be released on 13 October 2008. His debut album, Right Now, follows a week later. The mild-mannered 19-year-old singer says he is just an ordinary guy. Jackson, serious and resolute beyond his years, insists that he has had a leading role in deciding his musical future. "I've watched the songs grow, seen the first guitars strummed on them and chosen takes," he explains, adding he had a hand in choosing artwork and track listings. "I've been given the time to produce a quality record rather than a quickly put-together album," adds Jackson, who says he is "proud" with the results. "My ultimate dream is to be a really credible, respected musician - a songwriter as well as a singer and performer," adds Jackson, from Whitburn, West Lothian.

JOHN LEGEND GIVES T.I., SWIZZ BEATZ THE "GREEN LIGHT" FOR REMIX [MTV, 10/13/08]
T.I. and John Legend are switching it up a bit — Legend appears on Tip's "Slide Show" from Paper Trail, and the King of the South recently completed a remix of the crooner's current big single. "T.I. did a remix for me for 'Green Light,' with Swizz Beatz on the production," Legend told MTV News. "That was fresh. That'll be coming up soon. I switched up my lyrics a little bit to ride the beat in a different way. The beat is slower, a little more R&B-ish. Swizz slowed up the beat a little bit. T.I. did a different verse [from Andre 3000's], obviously. It's kind of a different record, but it still has an element of the original." More importantly, Legend says his now-famous line "Do I have a girlfriend? Technically, no" isn't going anywhere. "I still kept that one," he said of the playfully playalistic lyric. " 'Technically, no' — that's gonna get me in some trouble. But I kept it."  As for appearing on Paper Trail, Legend said it was smooth sailing. "It was easy," the Grammy winner said. "[T.I.] just laid out the format of the song, what he asked me to do for it. I knocked it out in an hour or something. The chorus was already written, then I wrote a little bridge at the end. That was it." For the original "Green Light," Legend was able to get Andre 3000 for a verse and an even rarer music-video appearance. "Green Light" is the lead cut from Legend's third album, Evolver. The singer said that despite the song being recognized as an undeniable hit now, his circle was worried about it being the album's first single. I felt like the record spoke for itself. It could get played on all the stations, people would love it in the clubs, and I wanted to make a statement that this album would sound a bit different." Evolver comes out October 28, with guest spots from Kanye West, Brandy and Estelle. On November 19 in Minneapolis, Legend starts the first leg of what should prove to be a very soulful tour with Raphael Saadiq. That leg ends December 13, with a second jaunt ramping up January 12 and wrapping up February 9, 2009. John Legend tour dates and locations are available online.

In related news, Robyn reveals that she has been banned from talking to Madonna, "We were told not to approach Madonna, not to speak to Madonna and, above all, no pictures. [Aceshowbiz, 10/11/08]

"As a police officer, I have a male partner and the video goes through our days. My husband's at work and has attractive girls flirting with him but he declines their advances. I have a guy flirting with me, and I flirt back." "It's about all of the little things that mean so much in a relationship. BLACK EYED PEAS PREPARING FOR "THE E.N.D." [Aceshowbiz, 10/11/08]
Hip Hop group Black Eyed Peas are close to release their upcoming fifth major studio album. Called "The E.N.D", the album is recorded at Metropolis studios in London and it is expected to be completed on October 15. "I'll be finishing the record Oct. 15," will.i.am tells Billboard. The album title doesn't refer to the band's final record, though. "No, no ... it stands for 'The Energy Never Dies,'" he explains as questioned if the title indicates that the band will end their singing careers as a group. Furthermore, the 33-year-old singer reveals that he has no intention to rush the album release date. However, he admits that he is actually tempted to release the record in 2008 because he's convinced that this year will be the final year where physical sales are significant. "For the last remaining stores that sell CDs, this is the last Christmas that CDs will be in stores," he predicts.  Following the successful viral campaign of his "Yes We Can" song in support of Barack Obama's campaign, will.i.am adds that he wants his group's music to be interactive. He also wants their songs to offer embedded information and even "songs within songs" when the user clicks on a pop-up. "I'm tired of making songs for the radio and for MTV," he says. "You should make songs for where songs are actually being listened and played. We have new people ... software programmers. They are just as important as me, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie (Stacy Ferguson). That's us, the visual members." "But nowadays it isn't just physical with music and content anymore ... you have to have proprietary software," he shares his thought more. "Just borrowing other people's tracks doesn't empower the growth and how you monetize that content, so that's why it's important that we got a software guy that is part of the Peas."

PLAYAZ CIRCLE MIXTAPE "THE CAMPAIGN" [MTV, 10/8/08]
The title of Playaz Circle's new mixtape, The Campaign, has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the entire country is talking about the upcoming presidential election. Of course it does! Don't be ridiculous. "We chose that title to keep it conceptual with the election year," Tity Boi told MTV, live from the group's adopted headquarters at Riverdale, Georgia's Frozen Palace club. "We felt like we were campaigning for the streets. This is just the first of many. It's going down major. We brought DJ Scream on the Southside. We decided to twurk with shawty because he's one of the hottest DJs in the street. I said, 'Let me and Dolla do our footwork. Wrap it up. It's about to be a Saran [wrap].' " "This is the prelude to our album, Flight 360, " Dolla Boy added. " 'The Campaign' itself is just a mixtape song that didn't make the album that still needed to be fed to the public. Me and Tit did our thing on a major stage. We done been across the country. We seen different fans; we know what they want. "Flight 360" is just a collection of great music of any generation from the smallest to the biggest." Ludacris, Lil Wayne and Jagged Edge all appear on the album. "Look What I Got" is the first single.

STOMPIN' TOM REVISITS HOCKEY SONG, OTHER TRACKS ON NEW ALBUM [CBC, 10/5/08]
Canadian music legend Stompin' Tom Connors has dipped into the past and re-recorded beloved tracks like The Hockey Song for his upcoming new album. The Ballad of Stompin' Tom (also the name of a biographical stage show about the singer written by David Scott) is set for release Oct. 28, but the 72-year-old Connors hosted a listening party for some reporters on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Connors said he felt his beloved hockey anthem was "a little thin the first time I recorded it way back in '71 or '72," before introducing the revamped version. Other songs revisited on the new album include The Olympic Song, My Hockey Mom and Take Me Back to Old Alberta. In June, many Canadians — including Don Cherry — suggested Connors' beloved The Hockey Song would be a fitting new theme for CBC's venerable Hockey Night in Canada broadcast. CBC lost use of the original, The Hockey Theme, after failing to reach a new deal with composer Dolores Claman. CTV subsequently purchased the rights. Connors performed his song at the NHL awards banquet that month, and his son, Tom Connors Jr., also said his father was open to licensing the track to Hockey Night in Canada. CBC Sports decided, instead, to hold a Canada-wide songwriting contest for a new theme song. The first round of public voting for the five semifinalists runs Saturday through Tuesday. The two finalists with be revealed next Thursday, when a second, 24-hour round of voting will take place. The winning submission will be revealed Oct. 11, with the composer set to receive $100,000 in cash and half of the ongoing royalties. The other half will be invested in minor hockey. At his album's media preview on Thursday, October 2, Connors said he didn't know why his song wasn't chosen, but joked he would have trouble coming up with a French-language version anyway.

JACKIE HOFFMAN: LIVE FROM JOE'S PUB" ALBUM [Playbill, 10/1/08]
The "Jackie Hoffman: Live from Joe's Pub" recording captures Hoffman in rare but signature form, delivering a series of riotous original songs and monologues. It was recorded during an extended sold-out engagement last winter at the Public Theater nightclub venue. PS Classics stated, "Hoffman is at her shockingly-inappropriate best: salty, saucy and uncensored. Here she leaves no comic stone unthrown, targeting everything from West Side matrons to public displays of affection, from the vagaries of show business to her own mortality. Hoffman's unique blend of cynicism, stand up, and original songs will make you realize why her shows at Joe's Pub are the stuff of New York legend. This album is not for the warm and fuzzy, politically correct or faint of heart." Michael Schiralli directed the Joe's Pub presentation that had musical direction by Bobby Peaco. PARIS HILTON DEBUTS NEW SINGLE "MY BFF" [Reuters, 10/1/08]
Leave it to Paris Hilton to ratchet up the hype for her new TV show's debut, releasing a new single, "My BFF," on the same day the reality TV program "Paris Hilton's My New BFF" first airs on MTV. The show -- a search for a new "best friend forever" who is hot, loyal and has the energy to keep up with Hilton's hectic lifestyle -- inspired the techno song Hilton said she co-wrote with her boyfriend Benji Madden of rock band Good Charlotte. "Could you be the one I want? Could you be the one I need?" the millionaire socialite croons on "My BFF." "All of my life, don't you know I've been waiting ... for my best friend." The tune will become the show's theme song. Sixteen women and two men -- both gay -- were selected from some 300,000 applicants to compete for the honor of being Hilton's best buddy, accompanying her to red carpet events and simultaneously dodging and courting the paparazzi. They enter a predominantly pink and sparkly world of challenges ranging from make-overs -- resisted at their own peril -- to dealing with lost luggage, private jets and looking hot on a rollercoaster. The new single is the first off her second album which is due out later this year. It will extend the business empire of perfumes, clothing, shoes, dog clothes, movies and TV series that she has built in the past 10 years by trading on her fame for being herself.
